Arsenal Manager Asene Wenger has said that he feels confident in regard to Walcott signing a new contract with the club.
Walcotts future has been subject to much speculation since turning down a contract extension in the summer, but talks have re-opened between the two since the beginning of January. It is understood that the club are prepared to make Walcott one of the highest paid players at the club by increasing his wage for £60,000 a week to £90,000. In return it seems as if they will be asking for his commitment in the form of a 5 year contract.
Walcott has played a huge part in Arsenals Premier League campaign this season, despite be over looked for most of the first three months, Walcott is the clubs top goal scorer with 14 goals so far. The contract negotiations originally are believed to have broken down due to the fact that Walcott wished to play in a more central attacking role, a wish that Arsenal were unwilling to grant. It would seem however that they had made a vital mistake, as he has scored 4 goals in his last 5 games as a striker.
