Galatasaray Sign Didier Drogba

Galatasaray have agreed an 18 month deal for former Chelsea legend Didier Drogba from Chinese club Shanghai Shenua.

Drogba will sign a deal with the club when Ivory Coasts African Cup of Nations run comes to an end- their next match being a quarter final on Sunday. The 34 year-old left Stamford Bridge last summer after scoring the equalising goal, and then the winning penalty in the sides Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich. He has spent just over 4 months in China, however due to the clubs poor run of form he decided to return to Europe to try football in yet another league.

Drogba will be Galatasaray's second major signing of the month after bring Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder to the club last week. The Ivory Coast international will be earning a reported 15 million euros during the 18 month period plus a bonus of 15,000 euros for every game played.

Drogba said, through his representatives Sports PR Company, on Twitter: "The opportunity to play for this great club was an offer that I could not turn down.

"I am looking forward to playing in the Champions League again, against the best clubs in Europe."
