The Football Association have charged Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson after comments made about officials after the sides 1-1 draw with Totenham.
The United skipper was furious after referee Chris Foy refused to give a penalty when Wayne Rooney was brought down in the Totenham box, although it was assistant referee Simon Beck who Fergie aimed most of his criticism at.
After the match, Ferguson said to the media: "It was a clear decision. And he was 10, maybe 12 yards away from the incident and he doesn't give it. And yet he gave everything else."
He also referred to a previous incident in which Beck failed to flag Didier Drogba offside when he scored for Chelsea despite appearing to be a couple of yards behind Uniteds defense when the sides clashed in April 2010.
Ferguson submitted his observations about the case to the FA on Friday, and now they have decided that they will call the United boss to account for what he said.
A statement on the FA website read: "The FA has charged Sir Alex Ferguson in relation to post-match media comments made following Manchester United's game at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 20 January 2013.
"It is alleged the Manchester United manager breached FA Rule E3 in that he implied that the match official was motivated by bias.
"Ferguson has until 4pm on Friday 1 February 2013 to respond to the charge."
