Robin Van Persie Named Player of the Year

Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie has said that being awarded PFA Player of the year felt "amazing" on Sundays award ceremony.

The Dutch international was up against Joe Hart, Wayne Rooney, Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Scott Parker for the trophy after scoring 27 goals in the Premier League this season.

The striker moved to the Gunners in 2004 from Feyenoor for £3 million, and has since made a massive impression at the club.

"I can't believe it. It is a massive dream to be standing here," he said as he accepted the coveted prize. "Eight years ago I came from Holland. Ruud Gullit was actually on the phone asking me to stay at Feyenood because he was becoming the new manager. I ended up at Arsenal, which was a dream come true, and I just can't believe that I'm standing here today."
