The 21 year-old has chosen Barcelona over national rivals Madrid after his current club Santos finally allowed their star attacker leave. Many thought that Santos wouldn't let Neymar leave South America until after next years world cup, however these thoughts were squashed when the superb Brazilian prospect confirmed a transfer to recently-crowned La Liga champions Barcelona.
Neymar said: "On Monday I'm signing a contract with Barcelona.
"My family and friends already know about my decision. I want to thank Santos' fans for these nine incredible years. My feelings for the club and the fans will never change".
Santos said on Friday that they had let Neymar transfer to Europe, allowing him to decide between the two offers. Rumors suggest that the fee is in the region of 54 million euros.
