During 2013's January deadline day, French side Paris Saint Germain seem to have come off best as they sign former England captain David Beckham on free transfer. Other top transfers include Danny Graham moving to Sunderland and Chris Samba to QPR.
PSG Show Off Beckham Move
The main story of the day was undoubtebly French giants Paris Saint Germain signing English legend David Beckham on a five month deal from free transfer. As a sign of respect and to brush off rumours that he moved for the money, Beckham has pledged that he will donate all of his wages to a childrens charity in France. His move to Paris attracted hunderds of fans and press to the clubs Stadium, where in a press conference held by the club, Beckham said that the reason he didn't return to the Premier League was because he did not want to disrespect former club Manchester United, and he would only return if he was to move to them.
Danny Graham Completes A Move To Sunderland
Danny Graham has completed his £5 million move to Sunderland from Swansea, and has signed a three-and-a-half year deal. The 27 year-old arrived at the club today for a medical and to finalise the deal after both the clubs have agreed a fee.
Graham arrived at Swansea in the summer of 2011, and has made 27 appearances, ten as a sub and scored seven goals. So far this season he has started to find some excellent form scoring some crucial goals for the Welsh side. Graham said he was "honoured" to join the club, and despite all of the clubs interested in him, he said: it was always going to be Swansea".
QPR Have Secured The Signing Of Chris Samba
QPR have secured the signing of defender Chris Samba from Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala for a club record fee. The centre-half who left Blackburn Rovers for Russia last summer, has joined Rangers on a four-and-a-half year deal.
Samba will serve as a replacement for Ryan Nelson as he has taken up a coaching position in the MLS with Toronto. The move is a record for the club, the second of the month, as a deal in the region of £11 million is thought to have been agreed. This is the second record transfer of the month with the club signing Loic Remy for £8 million earlier in the window. As for Samba's wages, he is thought to be earning in the region of £100,000 a week.
Stoke Have Agreed A Deal For Jack Butland
Stoke City have agreed a deal for Birmingham City keeper Jack Butland for a fee thought to be just under £5 million. The young prospect has already turned down a move to Chelsea this window as he felt he wouldn't get first team football, and Stoke were one of the clubs which could offer this.
The clubs current starting goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is still on the clubs books, but is thought to be leaving the club in the summer, so it would seem that Stoke manager Tony Pulis is looking ahead to the future. This is backed even more by the fact that Butland is thought to be heading back to Birmingham on loan until the end of the season.
Aston Villa Sign Yacouba Sylla
Aston Villa have completed the signing of French midfielder Yacouba Sylla from Clermont Foot. The Frenchman has atracted interest from France, Italy and Spain but was lured to England by the atraction of the Premier League after agreeing a three-and-a-half year deal.
He is expected to go straight into the Villa squad ahead of Saturdays clash with Everton. "I'm very excited about the prospect of playing for Aston Villa and also to be playing in the Premier League," said Sylla, who has represented France at U21 level. "I have watched some games here on TV back in France and a player such as Cheick Tiote, who is strong and forceful, I admire his style of playing".
