QPR have secured the signing of defender Chris Samba from Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala for a club record fee. The centre-half who left Blackburn Rovers for Russia last summer, has joined Rangers on a four-and-a-half year deal.
Samba will serve as a replacement for Ryan Nelson as he has taken up a coaching position in the MLS with Toronto. The move is a record for the club, the second of the month, as a deal in the region of £11 million is thought to have been agreed. This is the second record transfer of the month with the club signing Loic Remy for £8 million earlier in the window. As for Samba's wages, he is thought to be earning in the region of £100,000 a week.
