Newcastle United have completed the signing of French International Matthieu Debuchy for an undisclosed fee.
The 27 year-old, who has 12 caps for country, has signed a five and a half year contract with the Northern Outfit after spending the first ten years of his professional career at Los Dogues. Debuchy will add to the French part of Newcastle, being rejoined with close friend Yohan Cabaye, the duo being the one which helped Lile to a league and cup double in the 2010/11 season.
A £5 million offer was thought to have been enough to lure Debuchy to the club, who will now be wearing the number 26 shirt, however will not be appearing in this weekends FA Cup clash against Brighton.
