Chelsea will be hoping to trigger a buy-out clause in the Belgiums contract which allows Fellaini to leave the club a bid of more than £22 million is received from a Champions League club. If Chelsea succeed in doing this, it would be the second time this month that they would have payed the buyout clause after already paying £7 million for Senegal international Demba Ba from Newcastle.

The midfielders sensational form this season has meant that multiple top clubs are looking for his signature, and due to the fact that a starting space will open up after the departure of Lampard, Chelsea are thought to be the favourites.
