Rafa Benitez has been appointed as the Chelsea interim manager until the end of the season, after former manager Roberto Di Matteo was sacked on Wednesday.
Chelsea confirmed that Di Matteo was getting the sack Wednesday morning following Chelsea's 3-0 defeat to Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday which almost destroys all chances of reaching the knock- out stages. The former Liverpool manager Benitez flew in to London, cutting short his Middle East engagement for talks with the club, which have appointed him as the new interim manager which will last until the end of this season.
